OK you got say... half a day to explore & the other half to dream & get creative?

Well when you do check out today's site, Craft Gossip.

I'm inspired, in love & wishing I had more hours in a day!

Domestic Witch (with gifts...)

As if there was another reason to check out today's site, you also can win something! A beautiful rose quartz set of runes (with instructions!).

Domestic Witch is a blog I have found within the past few months & simply adore! Although I don't have any kids myself, I enjoy reading how she is homeschooling with an edge. Also the post on depression today was DEAD ON for me.

She is just one of those people who is kind enough to allow us a glimpse inside her unique mind & frankly I adore it. :) I love the way she is "weaving magic into domestic life"!

I would wear it too

Sometimes you see something & all you can do is think... why didn't I think up that?

This is what I thought of when I saw I Wear Your Shirt.

Basically the guy gets free shirts & paid to wear & blog about it. Beyond cool & how easy would that be? Oh I need more imagination....

MOST HATED 2009 - John Derbyshire

OK I AM FIRED UP. I can't believe the ignorance & pompousness of this guy....

Where on earth do guys get off thinking they are superior!?! Thankfully most realize that we are equal even if we do have a different set of plumbing & hormones, still NO ONE would be here without both sexes equally. (except maybe that sheep Dolly that was a clone, but still the one she was cloned from came from a male & female!!!)

Anyway this Jackarse trumps Kayne West in the douche bad contest by stating that women should never have gotten the right to vote!!!!

WHAT? Don't believe me? Listen or read yourself.

So yeah John Derbyshire, you are officially the biggest waste of oxygen I can think of at the moment. If lightening would happen to strike you from this planet, I wouldn't shed a tear but perhaps breath a sigh of relief knowing that your ignorance isn't being passed on to anyone else.

here kitty, kitty

OK so I ADORE Halloween. and I ADORE my pets. Somehow the two just don't tend to mess very well. I have been lucky enough to have two dogs that seemed to get a kick out of putting on a costume once in a while, but then again I have NEVER been able to get them to wear anything on their heads. Cats, well the two I had growing up let me know under no uncertain terms exactly what they thought of me dressing them into anything festive. I got the scratches to make sure the point it home.

So when I came across today's site & almost spit out my morning tea! Kitty Wigs! too funny & again I am kinda glad I'm not a cat owner. I love 'em, but I might be tempted to try again for dressing up kitty! :)

Polyvore love!

So I have a bit of an addiction. Its playing with LOADS of clothes I could never afford. In addition to the higher end stuff there is actual affordable things and many, many, many of them on Polyvore.

You just mix up accessories and clothes to make sets or outfits or just artsy designs.

I could do this for hours... & do at times.

Well low & behold I found out one of the companies that I used their accessories in a few of my sets has featured my sets ON THEIR WEBSITE!!! So I have to give love to Amocacushi Boutique.

Check out the bottom of the page. There you will find my designs like these...

Its my party & I do what I want to

PARTY ~ PARTY ~ PARTY!

ok so I might not be having a party, but I will be having at least a cupcake, a candle (or a few) & a wish soon. IF I was having a party, I would want fellow blogger Kara to help me plan it.

I love all the pictures & ideas from today's site, which happens to be her blog, Kara's Party Ideas!

Tues Treasures: Family Fun

So I grew up LOVING shows like Double Dare & Funhouse. Insanity with prizes! ....& good clean fun that got sloppy.

So now you too can get in on a home game.

HEAD CASE WATER BALLOON GAME!!!

Strap on the goofy looking basket to strap on your head (take the necessary pictures of how silly everyone looks), then toss water balloons at each other to see who can catch them with their head! Simple? yes. Fun? yes. HILARIOUS & guaranteed to create a few memories? you betcha!
Less than ten backs for priceless family fun!

Heck get really creative & just have a whole line up of games to see who can get the best 3 out of 5 or whatever! ;)

Happily ever after?

I came across these photos by Dina Goldstein & they have struck a cord.

Maybe there was a certain darkness behind those dreams. The smiles hid the unhappiness that sometimes reality brings.

Like how in modern times Belle would have to take some drastic measures to stay the Beauty.

Anyway today I give you a new look at the fairy tales. The Fallen Princesses collection.

Something just isn't working right here..

UNBELIEVABLY CUTE... but I really wanted to help the lil guy roll over. Such a sweet face & such a hard struggle. Poor thing.

So to the site...

STUFF ON MY MUTT

I may have posted a link to this before, but its ALWAYS being updated & is just too cute.

September 11th, 8 years later.

So today is not a day for laughter on this blog. (Although I encourage it in celebrating our life and ability to!) Yet the subject is one of honor, so a bit more serious tone today.

The site I present to you is the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center site.

May the day serve in celebration on the chances we have, the blessing we received & remembering those who make it possible. Tomorrow is not promised. On this day above all others we are reminded of that fact. Many got dresses, stressed and went in to jobs that they never made it home from. Think about that. Do you want to end your life stressing?

I invite you to see the beauty & positivity in EVERY moment, no matter how small. Our mood is our choice.

I am be annoyed an angered by the traffic or that I have too much to carry into work. OR I can be amazed at how many people there are in the world & wonder what each car contains... the doctor that will save lives, the friend that will give a hug right when someone needs it, or the person who needs a smile to change there mood & I am the one who can give it. I can be grateful that I have so much and the ability to carry it myself. :)

Refuse to live in fear. Refuse to add to the negativity, chaos & intolerance of others.

Never forget, but strive to be a positive change so we never have to mark a day like that ever again.

<3 Thank you to all who helped in so many ways. Big hugs and loads of hope for those who are still suffering. Thank you to the survivors who are here today for showing us life does go on. My sympathies to the friends and families who lost loved ones.

Cherish the moments. They may be all that matter after all.

In honor of those who were involved or effected by the events that happened 8 years ago today in New York, the Pentagon, and on Flight 93.

Store it at Jones

This website never fails to crack me up. I came across the viral commercials a while back & we all laughed. Several months later a friend emailed me one.... still I laughed.

Even today he makes me giggle into laughter.

I don't know why its so funny. Maybe its the delivery, the honesty or just the sheer rawness of the marketing campaign & business plan.

You check it out. Got anything you need to store?

BE SURE TO WATCH HIS COMMERCIALS.. & there are a few by now!

Tues Treasures: Safety First

So this is a new feature I'm trying out. Seems I have a knack for finding oddities. You know that stuff that you know you need.... (hear the sarcasm in my words). I enjoy surprising relatives and friends with gifts that make you wonder where in the world did she get this? Most have everything they need & can get it if they don't, so I bring the laughs, the conversation and the memories....at least I try.

Like a few years ago I got my parents the Clapper (surely no one can forget that device) & teased them about being lazy. We laughed & it wasn't that much. To this day (& my mother's embarrassment) my Dad uses it & enjoys clapping from bed to turn the light off. He also loves the toilet shaped soap dispensor that is motion activated to yell, "Hey don't forget to wash your hands!". My Dad has a great sense of humor.

So here comes Tuesday Treasures!

Every Tuesday I am going to try to bring you something unique an new. Something a bit wacky, wonky & wonderful.

This post is about something you know you want for yourself...

Heck if the news is right you might just need one! Oh yes I am getting ready for SWINE FLU.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Now why would you want a boring old white or blue mask when going out in the dangerous public? Plus you risk putting on someone else's by mistake! The horror! With these at least you will always know which is yours!

Cats with wings? Watch out birds!

Animals. Weird stuff.

What more do I need to say.

Welcome to the Cabinet of Curiosities.

Go ahead find the Chupacabra. & tell that African Grey to put the cig down!

Give 'em a Freak Show

So I'm not a fan of the mega big box. It's smiley faced logo is just creepy to me. I hate the poor ethics that I have found associated with the chain & frankly I NEVER have a good experience there. Doesn't matter what town or location, it always seems like a certain side of human nature comes out there that otherwise is not present. Well I'm not the only one who thinks that the place can be a bit of a freak show. I just don't know how someone stuck around long enough to create this site & have to wonder how long they will be allowed to be up before getting sued?

So step right up, see the freaks that are your neighbors, your fellow americans, and hopefully no one you know!

I give you the PEOPLE OF WALMART! Enter if you dare....

Pumpkin Spice Lattes, I want a lottay! mmmm.

So fall is upon us. I know this since I had my first of what I hope is many, many, many of Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

Basically it was like this...

I waited to get in my car before I could taste it. Every time it got close to my mouth I inhaled the divine scent and about passed out I was in such bliss. MMMM. LOVE IT!

What is it about this decadent drink. I take mine as a grande, with soy milk and real whipped cream. Perfection.

Every year my parents take at least one trek to the mountains to see the leaves on the mountains. While I remember these trips as a child, it was more about "yeah, its more colored leaves, whopidy do. Nooooooow why aren't we moving?" I tended to finish a good book while we waited in traffic. So I haven't been on one of these trip in a long time. Maybe I should since I know as an adult it would be different now that I can appreciate the miracle.

So today's site is a virtual trek to the mountains I spent several moments of Numbered Listmy childhood in, the Great Smokies. It really is a beautiful place & I have been back, just not during leaf turning season.

& to think I wondered why they were called the Great Smoky Mountains? Just takes looking at them one time in the morning light to see why. <3

Nothing taste better than health!

So with listening to all the debate regarding health care and watching my uncle lose his health, it has really been inspiring me to WANT to do more to ensure that I am healthy for as long as I can be. Seems that finding ways to ward off & fight the obesity epidemic which cost the health care system, would be part of the debate but I have yet to hear that part. Til the Feds figure out that connection with the rising cost its up to us to do what we can.

So I want to get back into working out regularly & changing my eating habits. Also I find it raises my spirits to learn to cook a great new meal! Can be a fun event for the night that only cost what you let it with the ingredients!

Last night I made the most delicious meal and had plenty of left overs for today & tonight & maybe tomorrow's lunch as well! So even though the ingredients cost me upfront, it can end up to be a LOT cheaper than a few trips thru a drive through or dinner out AND most importantly healthier & TASTIER! :)

With the success of last night still in the fridge, I am on the hunt for the next great recipe to try.

One advantage of living alone is I can eat whatever I want & try whatever I want without trying to make sure someone else will also eat it. See.... I can be Pollyanna positive about eating alone at home each night!~ ;)

Today's website is CookingLight.com. Where I have found the next recipe to try, I think. I will keep it to myself since I am hoping to post more about it later. I'm ignoring the survey where they say women put staying hydrated as a priority over sex! But there is TONS of great information to be found at this site.

So get in touch with your inner foodie. Take a chance on something new, hopefully healthy, & you just might find yourself loving it! and if you really love it, share it with me!

Confession.

Hi. My name is Ali and I am addicted... to Craigslist ads.

Not posting them. Not responding to them. Not even looking for something to purchase.

Just reading them & LAUGHING MY ARSE OFF! (yeah I know LMAO would have been shorter, but I wanted to clearly state just how funny I find the things posted, locally or all over the world.)

Frankly I know I am not alone in my guilty pleasure. There are many more lurkers out there who read & just shake their heads.

Then again there are a few who blog about the insanity. I adore the like minded at times.

You Suck at Craigslist, or YSaC, takes a look at the ads that might not exactly have chosen the best way to get their ideas across. Those ads that you have to read twice just to be sure you read it the way it was actually written. Oh & love that!

This is just out of control now...

So I have seen the bacon chocolate bar & even though I don't eat pork, I get where the salty sweet thing might work. Heard its a great chocolaty treat.

I have even heard rumors of bacon ice cream. Could be the same salty sweet thing.

This site however just is beyond my limits & ventures into WTF territory!

Seriously? Bacon Vodka? Wow, you would have to be drunk to try it!

So that's why the economy is blown!

So today I listened to a podcast discussing how most paper money in America has traces of cocaine on it. (no wonder the world is all wacky!) I had to wonder if there was much truth REALLY to the claims they were making. So I checked it out on Snopes.com! Great site to check out those rumors & urban myths. Sadly its true!

So what I am really wondering is how my bird is doing home alone right now. I got ready looking like a pirate this morning with a green parrot on my shoulder! He/she is just too sweet! I'm smitten to the core with Binx!!

Who wouldn't be? ;)

BirdBreath

Last night was one of those special nights like no other. I got to bring Binx home!!!

Binx is a rescued Peach Fronted Conure, formerly known as Peaches. Seem like too common a name for this beauty, so new life, new name. Plus I'm not big on naming pets after food!

The link for today is Bird Breath. There you can find a bunch of funny cartoons starring birds! Enjoy!

Life is a bowl of cherries...

I am so giddy about Monday's surprise. How will I make it through the weekend?

So weird how such moments can change life. I was depressed about my uncle, but I am more at peace with everything now. (who knows what I will feel when I am by his bedside this weekend) Now I am dare say HAPPY about the things to come.

So on to today's site which amazing enough isn't about birds, but is called Rare Bird Finds!

The stuff on here borders on making me laugh to HEY I think it could be cool to actually have that!

So have fun exploring.

This cherry pitter cracks me up!

Where Do Perching Birds Live? -- powered by eHow.com

So this is a friend of mine, who has made my month! I've been dealing with some heavy family stuff, but tonight I find out that there is a soon to be new family member that is going to join my flock!!! I can't wait! Such an honor! More to come later & I'm sure a LOT of pictures.

So here, have some pet fun as celebration!!!

Sea Monkeys

So you know you either had Sea Monkeys, knew someone who did or wanted some - secretly or not. I am not so secret about my desire to have a tank on my desk at work, yet I have not seemed to take the time to just go get them. Perhaps one day....

Until then I found this site, Bad Fads, & am laughing about everything. I mean really who thought pet rocks, hula hoops, & sea monkeys would catch on!
Now if I can just come up with the next great thing! :)

Parrots' Bill of Rights

1. GET TO KNOW ABOUT PARROTS BEFORE YOU BRING ME HOME - I am not a domesticated pet like a dog or cat. I still have the spirit of the jungle in me. I have special needs, which you may find hard to fill. Please don’t learn these too late for my well-being. And please don’t acquire one of my cousins wild from the jungle - it will jeopardize his survival and well-being, and that won’t be a party for you either!

2. GIVE ME THE LARGEST HOME POSSIBLE - I am used to flying through rainforests or savannas. I have given up this great gift for your pleasure. At the very least, give me enough room to flap my wings and exercise. And I need toys for my amusement and wood to chew - otherwise, I might confuse your Home with the forest and its trees.

3. GIVE ME A NUTRITIOUS DIET - I need a wide variety of fresh and nutritious foods, even if they take time to prepare. I cannot survive on seeds alone. Take time to learn what my needs, and preferences are.

4. LET ME HAVE A ‘SOCIAL LIFE’ - I am a gregarious flock animal - but I am not one of you. I need lots of socialization to learn how to act with you, and with my siblings. I also need to have adequate quality time with you every day - no matter what your schedule or other needs are. I am a living, feeling creature. Above all, I need to be able to have complete trust in you, and count on your predictability in looking after me - every day.

5. LET ME BE CLEAN - I may like to drop food or even throw it, but I need meticulous cleanliness to be healthy. My skin itches without frequent showers, the barbs of my feathers won’t seal if they become oily and, worst of all, I may become ill if my food or water is not always sanitary.

6. I NEED MY OWN DOCTOR - You may not understand my physiology and therefore you may not recognize it early on when I get sick. And it may be too late when you do, because I hide my illnesses (remember what I said about my being an animal of the jungle, where there are lots of predators). And I need an avian vet - a specialist (no HMOs for me please). If you can’t afford one, perhaps you shouldn’t have taken me home.

7. PLEASE DON’T PUNISH ME - Just as I don’t always understand your peculiarities, you may not understand mine. I don’t TRY to get in trouble - remember, a house is not the jungle. If I do screw up, don’t yell at me and never hit me. I have sensitive ears and I may never trust you again if you strike me. Hands are sometimes scary things to us (why in the world would you not be zygodactylous like us?). Even more importantly, we don’t learn by punishment. We are gentle creatures who only strike back to protect ourselves; we learn through patience and love.

8. SPEAK MY ‘LANGUAGE’ - I know you get upset with me when I knock over my water bowl, throw food, scream or pluck my feathers. I don’t do these to annoy you - I am probably trying to tell you something (perhaps that I am hurting, lonely, or sad.). Learn to speak MY (body) language. Remember that I, alone of all creatures on this planet, learn to speak yours!

9. SEE ME AS AN INDIVIDUAL - I am a unique and feeling being. No two of us are alike. Please don’t be disappointed in me if I don’t talk like you wanted, or can’t do the tricks that your friend’s parrot can do. But if you pay close attention to me (and I always empathize with you, whether you know it or not), I will show you a unique being who will give you so much more than talking and playing. Give me a chance to show you who I am; I think you’ll find the effort worth it. And remember - I am not an ornament; I do not enhance ANY living room décor. And I am not a status symbol - if you use me as such, I might nip at your up-turned nose!

10. SHARE YOUR LOVE WITH ME - Above all, please remember that you are my Special Person. I put all my trust and faith in you. We parrots are used to being monogamous (no bar-hopping for us!). So please don’t go away for long periods or give me away - that would be a sadness from which I may never recover. If that seems to be asking a lot, remember - you could have learned about my needs before bringing me home. Even having a baby or taking a new job isn’t a fair reason - you made a commitment to me FIRST. And if you think that you must leave me because you might die, provide for me forever after you leave. I may live to a ripe old age but I can’t provide for myself. Remember I’m in a small cage amongst people who are not of my blood.

11. YOUR RIGHTS - You have lots of rights, but I can only assure one. And that is, if you treat me the way I described above, I will reward you with unwavering love, humor, knowledge, beauty, dedication - and a sense of wonder and awe you haven’t felt since you were a child. When you took me home, you became my Flock Leader, indeed, my entire universe - for life. I would hang the moon and stars for you if I could. We are one in Heart and Soul.

& did you know I have official taken the first baby step to starting up my own side business! Its a small step, but movement non-the less!

http://wilmington.craigslist.org/pet/1297032501.html

Feel free to give me any advice, tips or feedback you might have!?! I would welcome it all.

Next step is getting up a website to let people know more about me, of course getting some experiences under my belt to get a better feel for what is needed & the market. The finalizing (ok.. doing) the business plan & getting all the licenses, bonding & getting incorporated. I don't think I will be quitting the day job anytime soon, but it would be great fun & hopefully a tad extra to put towards the bills!

Oh if my dreams take off.....

Interviewing? READ THIS FIRST

So another article to read. This one deals with some interesting observations I have made over the years as I have interviewed various people for various jobs.

Interview Tips for Today
There are differences in interviewing for your career position and when you are just trying to gain employment to pay the bills.
http://www.associatedcontent.comarticle/1875863/interview_tips_for_today.html

Another chance to see that common sense, really isn't so common sometimes. :)

Read Me... please?

Ok today is part self promotion, part information.

First check out this article on Being Happy Even When You Are Broke.

Read it? Great, now feel free to pass it on, click on it again & again....no really, just keep viewing it.

Every time the article gets viewed, it is counted & I am paid. That simple.

Writers, & there are plenty out there you bloggers, Associated Content is THE place to submit content to. They pay you upfront based on their evaluation of the article & then you also get paid according to the number of times the article is viewed.

So,...like I said. Click, click, click... I need the money. Just had to replace an AC Unit! Eek! Might have to write an article about that! If I do I will share. :)

Ghost in the shot

http://www.relaxinghub.com/2009/06/ghost-pictures.html

creepy. Yet I am drawn to this type stuff. Why is it creepy? Why can't it just be ok. I mean if I were dead & came back for a photo shoot... I would like to be thought of as pretty or cool or something other than creepy I think. Oh well.

Abso-fn-loot-ly <3

So today I am enjoying a nice time with a few girls I can relate too. The fabulous ladies of Sex and the City, courtesy of my DVDs. What is it about that show that can always make me feel like no matter how stupid guys may be, I am just fine right as I am & where I am. Although a bigger city might be nicer to date in! :)

Frankly that's what makes this site... so exciting!!!

Whats in your Kaboose?

So I felt the need for something new recipe wise in my life. I discovered a great site that not only has some unique recipes, but TONS of other information... even better if you have kids.

Kaboose.com

Mango & Roasted Cashew Salad.

I don't have the cashews, but this looks like just the type of dish that can be good & perfect to take to parties, bet no one else shows up with it! I have really been on a mango kick lately. I just want to lick the screen! ...but I won't, I promise.....really, I won't. :)

When does it get easier exactly?

So its been one month. A month since out of no where my life changed & my dreams were crushed without warning. Thankfully I'm just dealing with the pain & not an actual divorce. Still I get the raw emotion that can lead to anger.

Still I don't know if I will ever get to the stage these ladies are at....

DIVORCE CAKES

Oh yeah, there seems to be a market for these things out there.

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

the Laaaand of the Looooost

Well I was surprised by my boss with a 1/2 day off work paid today! I come home & find out from my dad that there is a Land of the Lost marathon on the SciFi channel. He remembered how much I liked it as a kid & had to call to let me know.

So I started watching & sorta remembered the show but still certain things were bugging me.. like names & why they were stuck there. So I googled.

Want more info on it? You know you do since Will Ferrell has an updated movie version coming out soon, no doubt that is the cause for the marathon!

Also while looking on YouTube & reminiscing on old TV I came across this lil gem...

....now go brush your teeth or you will never get that jingle out of your head! :)

Sunday, May 24, 2009

WHAT did you say that the web address was?

Oh think before typing...

We all do it, but sometimes when we just pick a name - be it screen name, website name, whatever, it just doesn't turn out as intended.

These gave me a chuckle.

Oh boy...someone I'm sure is wishing they had thought things through a bit more!

Oh land mills...

Oh family photos.. some are memories, some are precious & some...well...

Stop & Design the Flowers

I have wasted waaaaay too many hours on today's site since finding it late last night.

Nope its not a game, more of a virtual art project.

You can make unique flowers, then save them for anyone to use. I know sounds sorta bording, but trust,....it has a zen like quality about it all. :)

So go, make a flower that is all your own.

Cool Beans

Don't ask me.... I have no idea.

Smash these screaming beans!

All I know is I cracked up laughing at these poor lil beans. Oh the randomness of everything online is just too much sometimes.

Now I'm craving baked beans for dinner, yet don't think I can look at them the same way again.
